Lona Aketowanga
Four year old Lona is a girl whose parents died of AIDS, one in 2008 and one in 2009. She and her siblings were left on their own in the Internally Displaced Persons camp. They survived through the generosity of other impoverished families in the camp. When the camp was disbanded by the government, the children had no where to go and no way to sustain themselves. KOH made room for Lona, the youngest, and she now has a safe place to grow up. Having a sponsor would help with Lona's food, clothing, medical care and education.
Christopher Watum
Christopher is 12 years old and in Primary Six at school. He is an orphan, whose father died in a cross fire ambush by the rebels in 2004 and whose mother died of AIDS in 2007. Christopher then came to KOH, where he now has a safe and loving home. Rev. Otto describes Christopher as a humble child who is serious about his schoolwork. Christopher needs a sponsor to help with his maintenance and to ensure that he can continue going to school.
